EDITORIAL:

Last December, the Franck Biancheri Award was presented to AEGEE-Angers for its congress project “Being Franck Biancheri in 2019 … imagining the 2040 horizon” to be held from 1st to 7th July 2019 in Angers, France. As part of its continuity, the think-tank LEAP2020 (created by Franck Biancheri, initially known as Europe2020, member of the Franck Biancheri network) initiates a transition work from 2020 to 2040, supported by a multi-disciplinary team of young Europeans, independent and non-partisan.

We could not fail to mark these events with an iconic photo (by Philippe Portalier, who has photographed Franck for over 25 years) taken at the foot of the Acropolis in Athens on 24 May 1998, when Franck Biancheri wrote his speech “Europe 2020 – Reinventing Europe“: a democratic Europe, a transparent Europe, an efficient Europe, a Europe exploring the path of sustainable development, a Europe, serene, active and uncomplicated in the world …

It is on this path that the Friends of Franck Biancheri continue their work of memory and transmission. A work that will be reported to you in one year as part of our Europe2020 Congress (March 2020) to which you are warmly invited to join, and during which we will “transmit” effectively to the new generations the torch. Lastly, a job recognised by the honor of being able to entrust the archives of Franck Biancheri for the posterity of researchers and teachers by entering the pantheon of one of the founding fathers of Europe, Jean Monnet.

Thank you for accompanying us faithfully and supporting us and choosing to become a member of the association.

Marianne Ranke-Cormier (AAFB, vice-president)

EDITORIAL:
