Winner of the Franck Biancheri Award 2016, AEGEE Cluj-Napoca is working closely together with the representatives of Association des Amis de Franck Biancheri and the Your Vision for Europe Project in order to bring a 3-day long thematic conference to life.

This event will take place between 6-9 May in Cluj (Romania) and will address the following thematic:

Borderless Europe: Blessing or Burden?

.

Participants will have the opportunity to discuss the benefits and/or disadvantages of a Europe without borders during open space discussions with experts, workshops for better understanding the European project, getting to know the different narratives from inside and outside the European union and finally, to gather young people’s wishes and recommendations for the future of the European project!

Quick overview of the programme (futher information will come later on)

The First day of the conference would look at: Inside the European project:

  • The evolution of Schengen – and where it stands today
  • Europe: salad bowl or melting pot of nations?
  • The European project’s win and fail: ideology vs. economic interests

The Second day of the conference will take a look at Outside the European project:

  • Eastern partnership – opportunities and visa regulations
  • Balkans and Turkey: do they still want to belong to the European project?
  • Fortress Europe: who is an ‘outsider’?

During the event, a dedicated session will also be devoted to the commemoration of Franck Biancheri’s character and work on the democratization of European decision-making processes.

Marie-Hélène Caillol, President of the Association des Amis de Franck Biancheri will give a speech on the following panel discussion: “Utopian thinking and acting in 21st century Europe”  (detailed programme here)

Looking forward to many of you participating in an event that brings back the spirit of the first days of AEGEE, that questions the current status quo in Europe and offers a unique insight to understand Borderless Europe from a new perspective.

Vainqueur du Franck Biancheri Award 2016, AEGEE Cluj-Napoca travaille conjointement avec les représentants de l’Association des Amis de Franck Biancheri et les membres du projet Your Vision for Europe pour mettre en œuvre une conférence thématique de 3 jours.

Cet évènement se déroulera entre le 6 et le 9 Mai à Cluj (Roumanie) et traitera de la thématique suivante :

Europe sans frontières: Aubaine ou Fardeau?

Les participants auront la possibilité de discuter des bénéfices et/ou inconvénients d’une Europe sans frontières au cours de discussions ouvertes avec des experts, d’ateliers de travail pour mieux comprendre le projet Européen, de moments d’échanges pour connaître les discours en provenance de l’intérieur et de l’extérieur de l’Union Européenne et, enfin, cette conférence sera l’occasion de recueillir les souhaits et recommandations de jeunes gens pour le futur du Projet Européen.

  • Balkans et Turquie: souhaitent-ils toujours faire partie du projet Européen ?
  • Europe forteresse: Qui est ‘outsider’?

Pendant l’évènement, une session particulière sera consacrée à la commémoration de Franck Biancheri, au personnage politique et à son travail sur la démocratisation des processus de décision Européens.

Marie-Hélène Caillol, Présidente de l’Association des Amis de Franck Biancheri donnera un discours lors de la réunion-débat sur le thème de : « Pensée utopique et agissement dans l’Europe du 21ème siècle » (programme détaillé ici)

Nous espérons que nombreux d’entre vous seront ceux qui pourront prendre part à cet évènement, qui ramène pleinement l’esprit des premiers jours d’AEGEE, qui questionne les status quo actuels en Europe et offre ainsi une vision unique pour mieux comprendre l’Europe sans Frontière depuis une nouvelle perspective.
