• The end of Europe? Inflation, energy crisis, border wars…
What Franck Biancheri from Menton (1961-2012) would say today
Saturday, March 18th, 2023 (3.00pm/5.00pm), Palais de l’Europe in Menton (France)
The European Union, a project of peace and prosperity, is inevitably facing an existential questioning in a context of rising borders, major infrastructure crisis (energy and others), inflation and conflict at its borders. Should we anticipate the end of Europe? If so, which Europe is disappearing? And what is emerging in its place?
Thirty years ago, a native of Menton, Franck Biancheri, predicted a bleak future for the EU if it failed to democratize itself by inventing the mechanisms to connect to the common interest of its citizens. He passed away exactly 10 years ago, what would he say in 2023 about this Europe in which he believed?
Since he is unfortunately not here to tell us, the Association of his friends and fellow travelers (AAFB), in partnership with the City of Menton, wanted to convene a panel of Europeans. Sharing a common history of commitment to his side, but following for 10 years distinct paths, committed Europeans, from different professional backgrounds, will answer from their various angles to this question: “Is the end of Europe?
This diversity of viewpoints will provide the framework for an open and tolerant debate with the audience of participants.
Conference-debate for an audience of Mentonnais, elected officials Mentonnais, students of Sciences Po Menton, AAFB network, representatives of other organizations / institutions non-local partners (100 to 200 people). Discussions in French. Followed by a cocktail.
